One of Pop Antique's signature innovations has been the development of Knit Corsets, which have the same internal strength and structure of a single-layer steel boned corset, but covered with a fashion-forward knit outer.

Structured and destructured

Pop Antique "Knit Corsets" have the same internal strength and structure as a single layer corset: organic cotton canvas lining, waist tape, steel hardware, etc., covered with a chic yet cozy knit outer. There are two basic types of knit corsets: "Sweater corsets" are available in either a sleek machined knit or beautifully textured bulky hand knit while "t-shirt corsets" have a fashion fabric made from t-shirt like jersey fabric. Feel free to email me to discuss having your favorite t-shirt turned into a stylish corset. An upgrade to coutil lining is also available.

Knit corsets have woven bindings and back bone casings. Bindings may be hidden if you so desire, but it is recommended that sweater corsets keep the woven back bone casings, as the textural knits are more sensitive to abrasion from the lacing.

T-Shirt Corsets

T-shirt corsets have a sleek jersey outer, and can in fact be made from upcycled t-shirts. If you're looking for something more basic, I have some solid jerseys in stock.  Want something unique? Custom Pop Antique printed fabrics are in the works and I can do small-batch custom screen printing.

Stock fabric options from $100 + base price of corset.

Fully Fashioned

"Fully Fashioned" machine knit corsets are the cream of the crop. Available in three pattern design styles, jersey, jacquard, or intarsia, each panel is knitted to shape, rather than cut. Each change of yarn or design requires the knitting pattern to be fully recalculated. From the design phase to knitting the panels and attaching them to structured interior, machine knit corsets entail two to three times the amount of work as conventional woven corsets. Jersey and jacquard corsets include a silk-lined busk cover; intarsia corsets are only available with closed fronts.
