This collection from early in my MFA studies kicked off what would become my devotion to corsetry as daywear and incorporated into other garments. The fabrics used were simple - silk dupionis, silk jersey, and cotton sateen.
The original inspiration came from the sounds of a particular band - synth infused upbeat rock. From the mood it created, I got my bright color palate and the sweeping curved style lines.
Bias-cut prints add visual impact as well as creating smoother curves. The style of front closure is toyed with, some corsets have their entire bodies covered with a smooth piece of silk jersey, and two pieces have corsets integrated into a dress. One, by attaching the skirt only at the front waist and allowing the jersey waistband to stretch slightly to accommodate the variation in lacing gap. The second has the front panel of the corset tucked behind the body of a sheath dress while the rest of the corset comes out and wraps around the torso.
